Every parent's response after the awful shootings in Connecticut HAS to be the same: How can I make sure this doesn't happen to my kid? And instead of waiting for the government to try to help, a lot of them have settled on THIS.

Sales of BULLETPROOF KIDS' BACKPACKS are up 300% this week.

There are a few companies that sell these kinds of backpacks. One is called Amendment Two, and it's based out of Salt Lake City.

They actually license Disney princesses and characters like "The Avengers" to put on their backpacks . . . which sell for $300. For teenagers, they have a Swiss Army-style backpack. The backpacks don't look any different than regular ones.

It's not clear if the backpacks could've resisted the high-powered shots from the rifle in Connecticut, but they ARE made of the same lightweight body armor that's used by police.

Derek Williams runs Amendment Two. He says, quote, "We want to be sensitive . . . but we are going to try to get the word out that this product does exist and there are ways to at least provide our children with some protection." (Mother Jones)
