In case you forgot, Saturday was Groundhog Day. And for the 116th time, PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL got dragged out to look for his shadow and make a prediction on the weather.

Well . . . not the original Phil, obviously. Groundhogs have life spans of about 10 years.  Being "Punxsutawney Phil" is kinda like the Pope . . . they just slide a new one in there whenever the previous one dies.

Anyway, this year, Phil did NOT see his shadow, which means an EARLY SPRING.

And it's only the 15th time in 116 YEARS that he hasn't seen his shadow.

Unfortunately, he's fairly unreliable as a meteorologist. According to the StormFax Weather Almanac, he's only correct about 39% of the time. This really is our dumbest holiday.

Our very own NIBBLES, from the WNC NATURE CENTER, didn’t see her shadow either. Spring is a GO! (CNN / Wikipedia)
