 1923…..Doc Watson born in Deep Gap, NC.  Born Arthel, Doc Watson became an internationally recognized star during the Folk Revival era.  A master of flat picked guitar, Doc was “discovered” by Ralph Rinzler (Rinzler also became the manager of Doc and Bill Monroe)
