Roger grew up on a Quarter Horse and Produce Farm in Ashtabula, Ohio (North East Corner) where his childhood classmates would cheer for summer vacation while he would whimper knowing his father would put him to work all summer long. So to avoid a life full of heavy lifting Roger decidied to start his career in Country Radio.
Along with his career, Roger is married a wonderful woman named Ruby, who still loves him through all his country boy "issues". When they married they combined their two families to make a home full of six kids, Zachary, Kleora, Heather, Jeremiah, Brandon and Christian.
When you don't hear Roger on 99.9 Kiss Country you'll find him playing out in the backyard with his kids as they are all very active in sports, so much so his youngest son sleeps with a baseball bat instead of a teddy bear.

So yesterday Billy Currington entered a plea of Not Guilty in Georgia against charges that stemmed from him allegedly chasing down a boat captain and threating to beat him down. If you haven't heard this story apparently back in April a tour boat captain buzzed past Billy's home on Tybee Island leaving a wake that almost knocked an elderly visitor off his dock.
Billy was not amused to say the least and jumped in his boat and followed the Skipper to his dock and allegedly threatened him. Now Billy is facing charges that stem from terroristic threats to abuse of an elderly person.
I wasn't there when this went down and can't say exactly what happened but isn't it interesting how 20 years ago no one would have said anything about it, besides maybe the tabloids. But now in 2013 Billy could spend up to 5 years in prison for simply running his mouth. According to reports he never touched the tour boat captain just threatened to.
Can you imagine how quickly Johnny Cash. Waylon Jennings and George Jones would have found themselves surrounded by bars if those laws had been on the books back during their rowdy outlaw country days?
Now don't get me wrong you should always count to 10 or wait until the next day to confront someone because a calm temper is always a better bet, especially when you could spend up to five years in prison for threatening to beat someone down....and you never actually touched them.
Finally if Billy did make some threats I agree he should have waited to confront the captain. But who can say that they haven't ever lost their temper and went off on someone. Should that mean that they should have their life ruined over some heated words they should have never said?
