Roger grew up on a Quarter Horse and Produce Farm in Ashtabula, Ohio (North East Corner) where his childhood classmates would cheer for summer vacation while he would whimper knowing his father would put him to work all summer long. So to avoid a life full of heavy lifting Roger decidied to start his career in Country Radio.
Along with his career, Roger is married a wonderful woman named Ruby, who still loves him through all his country boy "issues". When they married they combined their two families to make a home full of six kids, Zachary, Kleora, Heather, Jeremiah, Brandon and Christian.
When you don't hear Roger on 99.9 Kiss Country you'll find him playing out in the backyard with his kids as they are all very active in sports, so much so his youngest son sleeps with a baseball bat instead of a teddy bear.
Last night I called my wife Ruby to check in (she still lives in North East Ohio) and my two year old Christian answered her iphone.
"Hi daddy!" he chimed in his little voice
"Hi buddy, how are you?" I asked while I was expecting Ruby to grab up the phone at any moment, but he continued.
"I love you daddy. I miss you daddy."
"I love and miss you very much too buddy. Where's you're mom at?" I started to get concerned.
"We're at Bubby's (his older brother Brandon) football" he replied.
Then I heard my mother in law ask him, "Who are you talking to Christian?"
"My daddy." he answered.
"Oh how cute" she said "He's pretending to talk to Roger."
So I continued to chat with Christian for about ten minutes until Ruby needed her phone. She was shocked to see I was on the other end when she finally retrieved it from him. She asked, "Did Christian call you?"
"No, but he answered." I said
"Wow, he is so smart and he's just two years old." she bragged.
"Yes he is...he can navigate your iphone...even with the new updates...but he still has a problem with telling us when he has to use the potty." I laughed.
