Original Version:

So last Wednesday, my husband had the day off of work, so he and his good friend Caleb went on a motorcycle ride. They witnessed an awesome event, which led Caleb to post this on the Missed Connections section of Craigslist (original post here):
To The Completely Fearless Dude On The Skateboard - 39 (Elk Mountain Scenic Highway)
Heading up Elk Mountain Scenic Highway for a cruise on the parkway today, we passed you coming down, on the outer edge of a blind hairpin turn just a few blocks above the golf course, near the bottom of the hill. We were on a motorcycle. You, you crazy motherf**ker, were on a skateboard. You waved at us as we passed. Dude, seriously? From the big grin on your face, I can only assume that you slalomed all the way down from the top. You had a car right behind you that was impatient to pass, but could not. Those of you who have ever driven the Elk Mountain Scenic Highway know just how balls-out insane it would be to try something like that. You were wearing a helmet, but no other pads, just jeans and a t-shirt. We couldn't believe what we saw, and when I looked back down from further up the winding hill, there you were, in a full tuck, with no brakes, just charging it.
Sir, I salute you, whoever you are. Your Wednesday afternoon thrill-seeking was clearly not impeded by the weight of your cast-iron balls. If not for people like you, "skate or die" would merely be a phrase on a bumper sticker.
And then! The guy actually SAW the post, and replied to Caleb via email:
Hey someone showed me your post. That was me and a friend skating that day. Glad that it got you so stoked. FYI the car behind that was trying to pass was our follow car. We use it for safety and as a ride to the top. We don't want someone in a fast sports car coming up super fast behind us around a blind corner.
Oh and I do have breaks. I can foot break, air break, and I can scrub any amount of speed by sliding. I would never skate something like that if I wasn't able to stop.
Thanks for the support, its great to know people like what we do too! Here's a video of elk.
How awesome is that!! Has anyone ever seen these guys?
Good tune for smokers and non-smokers alike. ;)
Turn it up, bliss out, pretend your office is the beach...
If you really like this song and want to buy it, you can name your price here.
In a recent interview with Jurassic Park sound designer Gary Rydstrom, he reveals that a lot of the dinosaur sounds in the movie came from some pretty unexpected sources. The velociraptors in the video below, for example? Tortoises mating. Yep. For a full explanation of all the sounds, click here.
Well....at least they gave it a shot. I can't determine if this is mostly hilarious or mostly awkward...
